About Willowcrete

Willowcrete Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is a long-established family business, incorporated in 1950, which began as a small concrete manufacturing plant, based at Monkwearmouth, Sunderland. Eventually it moved to new premises in Deptford, Sunderland, where the company remains and thrives today, employing 30 people, including teams of skilled fence erectors, steel fabricators and concrete production staff.

The company originally specialised in the production of concrete fence posts and panels for Sunderland and Newcastle Councils, but soon, the company branched out to supply and fix all types of fencing products. Further developments included the manufacture of steel gates and railings and extending the range of concrete building products.

School Gate
For many years now, Willowcrete has provided a first-class service in the supply and installation of fencing throughout the North East, as well as producing its own specialist fencing, gates and bespoke concrete products.

Much of the firm’s success can be credited to team work, a hard-working, loyal staff and a long-held reputation for quality. This, in part, is due to the quality of our suppliers who provide us with top-quality materials for much of our fencing needs.

Climbing deterrent
Much of our work is carried out for Local Authorities in the North East and for Commercial and Industrial premises. Although Northumberland, Durham, Tyne & Wear and Teesside are considered to form "our patch" it is not unusual to find a Willowcrete fencing gang in Wales, Scotland or the South of England. Similarly, it would be no surprise to see any of our heavy goods vehicles delivering specialised concrete products or fencing materials anywhere in the UK.

A new steel fabrication shop was opened in 2002 and a new cutting shop to go with it is well-advanced in the planning stage. Future plans include expansion and further new plant for the concrete factory to boost production to keep up with increasing demand.

Custom Bench
We now employ a nationally-qualified Health & Safety Manager. This is a reflection of the clear ideas we have on Health and Safety and the environment. Willowcrete uses only timber from sustainable sources and all of our waste is professionally recycled. We endeavour at all times to cause minimum impact on the environment.
These factors, linked with first-rate quality, have helped Willowcrete to gain access to many of the most selective tender lists and become compliant with the Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS).

Willowcrete will continue to grow and invest in its future, being one of the leading fencing companies in the North East, innovative in its approach and the envy of its competitors.
